TL;DR news on Is Good Friday a bank holiday at August 26, 2023

If you are planning on getting away for a nice Easter break or are looking forward to celebrating a long weekend with your family, you may be asking what days you have off work. Although Easter Tuesday is not an official government and public bank holiday, many businesses do also offer April 19 as an additional day. Be sure to check your leave entitlement with your employer for the Easter holidays before jetting off or making any plans. And now drivers are being warned to expect long delays next weekend as millions of people embark on an Easter getaway. Some 13.6 million are expected on Good Friday alone, leading to fears of tailbacks on popular tourist routes. Back in 2016, Jasmine was concerned that children in hospital over the Easter period would not get a visit from the Easter bunny so she decided to brighten up their days. She also includes those at Altnagelvin, Daisy Hill and Craigavon hospitals. For her proud family, including mum Maggie, their role has been to help make room for all the eggs in their front room and load the car up to chauffeur charitable Jasmine from one location to the next. As soon as Christmas was over, Jasmine, a pupil at Belfast Model School for Girls , was back with her Easter collection in the hope of making more children smile. "Despite the restrictions, Jasmine still decided to help raise vital funds for local babies and children who need it most in these challenging times. People have just been so generous in helping her get to this point. "As a mum I'm just so proud of Jasmine and totally gobsmacked by the amount of eggs she has gathered up this year. I always ask her every year if she wants to do it again and she says yes. As long as she's able to give something to someone else, she's happy," Maggie added. With her Easter egg collection now complete for another year, Jasmine still has plenty to look forward to this year. She was crowned Junior Miss Galaxy Ireland last year and will be heading to Texas this August to compete and represent Northern Ireland in the world finals.
